Nodes are essential for maintaining the whole and undivided blockchain. Nodes are just a copy of the blockchain which exists on a computer, phone or printer (hardware device). These devices have to be connected to the internet with an IP address.
Nodes are often arranged in the structure of trees, known as binary trees. Every Cryptocurrency has its own nodes. This maintains the transaction records of that token. Anyone can create a node but have to be prepared to handle all of its data.

Nodes are the individual parts of the Blockchain - The block itself is a data container. It stores millions of transaction entries. The Blockchain is a technology that supports almost every cryptocurrency. The owner of the node which lives on his computer has the chance to collect the transaction fee and earn a reward, done by miners.

Let's define Mining, also called Forging: It is the process of recording and entering transaction records in the Blockchain cryptocurrency system as there is no central authority or central bank. To prevent reduction of the value of the currency in the relation of other currencies, miners build lots of blocks. This made it harder for miners because they need to solve complicated mathematical problems called proof of work (processing time by a computer). They need to solve hashes. A hash function takes some input data and creates some output data. A hash is used for verifying a file not been tampered with or modified in any way not planned as meant by the author. I will go deeper into Mining at a later stage so let's go back to nodes.

You get two kinds of notes, a full node, and a lightweight node. The full node is a complete list of every transaction on the Blockchain. It fully enforces all of the rules of the Blockchain. A full node will be for example a Bitcoin node which had been created on the Bitcoin network since 2009 all the way to now. A full node requires java to be installed.

A lightweight node is only a partial list. This node confirm transactions without committing the disk space, which means that you can on the Blockchain have the node without downloading an entire copy of the Blockchain. A light node will be like blocks which were created in the past month or year or less and connects to remote nodes. Light nodes are owned by you or anyone else.
