Ashton Kutcher Donated Ripples
Hollywood actor, and also a big tech investor, Ashton Kutcher, is a longtime fan of blockchain technology.
In May 2018 he donated a $4 million Ripple XRP token – Ripple, the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap after Bitcoin and Ethereum, to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
Kutcher was seen on television for the first time in connection with his relationship with Ripple on the famous Ellen DeGeneres talk show. Kutcher said: "We can actually transfer [the donation] into Rwandan francs right now, right here, and all we have to do is push this button and it's in your account!”
This was done by the blockchain technology which is fast, secure and tamper-free. Ripple is built on this new technology. Doing any transactions on the blockchain is far cheaper than to go through a middleman like a bank. As he said on a conference several years ago that the blockchain is anonymous and you don't have to worry about Big Brother.
Kutcher has also been increasingly interested in the cryptocurrency market. He made investments in start-ups like Ripple and a bitcoin service provider, BitPay.
Also, this Star is involved in A-Grade Investments, a capital firm founded in 2010 by Kutcher and Madonna’s, manager, Guy Oseary, based in Los Angeles, California. The company invests other people’s money and will do so through a new, more formalized fund with some big backers. Both Kutcher and Oseary invest in Uber, Airbnb and Spotify. This firm's primary targets are consumer-focused businesses.
